Abstract

Over the last decades the number of occupational skin diseases has been increasing. Very often the onset of these diseases causes a resignation from current occupation and retraining. Considering the personal consequences, regarding health, social and economical needs, the previous occupation should be maintained instead of retraining. In this respect the dermatological and allergological clinic in Davos (Alexanderhausklinik) offers rehabilitation programs and dermatological therapy for in-patients. Supported by the special low allergenic environment of the Swiss mountains patients are trained in using suitable skin protection and practicing skin protective methods while working. Besides therapy, allergological diagnostic and theoratical education, the treatment focuses on a practical step by step training using an 'individually designed job simulating model'. Previous studies support the favourable effect for the patients returning to their old occupation after being hospitalized in Davos (climatic therapy).
