Abstract
Acting in global fields of competition makes companies face growing requirements regarding the location of their production sites. Especially for German companies this task has been gaining importance. Various aspects and high uncertainty levels lead to difficulties in defining the optimal proceeding in offshore decisions. This paper demonstrates the complexity of the subject based on extensive studies and actual cases and in conclusion derives a model for anticipating common risks in offshore activities and linking them to defined stages of shifting abroad.
