Abstract
The ArF excimer laser photolysis of H2S and BrCN seeded in a free jet expansion of He or Ar yields respectively the X2Π SH and X2Σ+ CN free radicals, which can be detected by laser-induced fluorescence. By judicious adjustment of the photolyzing and probe laser beams with respect to the nozzle, rotational temperatures greater than 3000 K to less than 10 K For the fragment radicals can be obtained.
