Abstract
A concept comprising audiovisual aids for supplementing the 3-dimensionaI guidance information of a predictor-tunnel display is presented. This concept employs visual and/or acoustic signals which are added to the display symbology. The goal is to provide the pilot with an information to support him in precisely initiating a control input for a change in the flight path. This is considered to be an aid particularly for gradual lateral and longitudinal changes which develop slowly. Results from pilot-in-the-Ioop simulation tests are presented for showing the improvements possible with the audiovisual aids.
