Abstract
Several proposals exist to use predictive control algorithms for inverter control. Besides their common basic idea to use the extremely non-linear but well-known behaviour of inverters to precalculate the best switching times there are many differences in detail. This is the time for an attempt to design a `family tree' of predictive control algorithms by pointing out similarities and differences of the algorithms published so far.
