Abstract

Pilot contamination limits the performance of a multi-cell time division duplex system with a large number of base station antennas. We study the potential benefit of coordination during the training phase and we propose efficient algorithms for practical systems. Our derivations are based on results from asymptotic analysis and the practical relevance is demonstrated by simulations with realistic system parameters.
