Picosecond phase relaxation of the fundamental vibrational mode of liquid nitrogen

Abstract

The phase relaxation of the normal vibrational mode is investigated using single picosecond pulses. A dephasing time of 75 ± 8 psec is measured in good agreement with spontaneous linewidth data.
