Abstract
We report the results of an experiment to measure the overall photon detection efficiency of the HADES RICH. Cherenkov radiation from light carbon ions was used to produce single photons in the accessible wavelength region between 145 and 220 nm. The photon detector response to single photons is described by a parametrisation. The total light yield and its spatial distribution are compared to full scale simulations and yield a figure of merit N0≃90 (cm-1) for the RICH.
