Abstract

The emerging trends in the use of polyethylene terephthalate (PET) as plastic packaging material for bottles, containers, and thermoforming films was discussed. High temperature resistant films, laminates based on aluminium metallized PET, polymeric barrier coatings and oxygen barrier coatings were the new introductions. PET recycling was forming an important topic for research and included a plan for bottle-to bottle recycling.
