Abstract
The central problem of a profitable, automated or partly automated disassembly is a flexibility of variants that can be mastered. In order to reach this aim, it will be necessary for disassembly systems to integrate flexible processes, operational equipment which is indifferent to both products and processes, and flexible autonomous control systems. The article illustrates the synergy effects to be reckoned with, but also deals with target conflicts to be expected from an overall concept for a product life cycle, taking into account the influences and effects involved.
