Abstract

A predictor concept is considered for achieving control coordination for the longitudinal and lateral axes. This control coordination is based on manual control issues which concern the transfer characteristics of the controlled predictor-aircraft element. With the proposed predictor concept, the same transfer properties for the longitudinal and lateral axes in the frequency region centered around pilot-system crossover are generated. Furthermore, the possibility of controlling both the longitudinal and lateral axes with coordinated control inputs is considered. Results from pilot-in-the-loop simulation experiments are presented which show the effectiveness of control coordination.
