Abstract

Three test procedures for roller compacted concrete with respect to water permeability, frost resistance and crack prevention are described. For lower water permeability and enhanced frost resistance compacting water content of mixes must not be too low. For crack prevention a new test device (cracking frame) was constructed in order to obtain the unidirectional stress development of roller compacted concrete from the time of placing. By testing with the cracking frame, the viscoelastic properties of the materials at the time of early hydration are fully considered. The tests can be conducted at a wide variety of temperature and humidity conditions.(from paper)
