Abstract
Over the past decades, the placement of dental implants has become a routine procedure in the oral rehabilitation of fully and partially edentulous patients. Due to the fact that the number of patients that undergo restorative therapy through dental implants increases, peri-implantitis is considered to be an increasing problem in dentistry. Based on the present diagnosis of peri-implant diseases, the following topics will be discussed: therapy of peri-implant mucositis, therapy of peri-implantitis including non-surgical treatment of peri-implantitis and surgical treatment of peri-implantitis. A short look on apical peri-implantitis and clinical implications rounds off this chapter.
