Abstract

The application of network methods to electromagnetic field problems can contribute significantly to problem formulation and to an efficient solution methodology. Lumped element representation of electromagnetic structures consisting of inductors, capacitors, resistors and exciting sources embedded in a connection circuit with ideal transformers are revisited. Applying Richards transformation, inductors and capacitors are replaced by shorted and open transmission line stubs, yielding a time-discrete transmission line segment circuit (TLSC) approach for efficient time-domain modeling of electromagnetic structures.
