Abstract

Thermo-elastic and RF requirements can be achieved by proper materials and material combinations for reflecting surfaces or structures. Combining advantages on the one side might also need the minimisation of disadvantages e.g. due to material mismatch on the other. Some examples are given for different types of reflectors, including foldable and deployable surfaces, reflect array structures, integrated smart materials and the interaction of certain types of coating with dimensionally stable structures at very low temperatures.
