Abstract
Globally acting enterprises are organized in Value Added Networks. Hence, companies are able to split value added capacities between high-wage and low-wage countries. This article identifies with the help of several examples how a production optimization in a lowwage country was accomplished using a combination of the Theory of Constraints and Lean Manufacturing. The situation in low-wage countries is illustrated and considers their specific limiting factors. The examples in the referred case study are derived from a specific company of the foundry industry.
