Abstract
For a left ventricular assist device (LVAD) an axial flux machine with permanent magnetic excitation was designed and optimised. The paper leads through the principle design aspects to determine a suitable topology considering phase- and pole number and winding design. After optimisation process the validation and comparison with measured performance is presented.
