Optical Tomography using multi-frequency intensity information

Abstract

We demonstrate that the use of the amplitude information only of diffuse photon density waves (DPDW) at multiple frequencies in Optical Tomography may be performed with the instrumentation simplicity of constant-wave (CW) imagers, yet without compromising the virtues of frequency domain or time-domain technology, namely superior absorption and scattering differentiation. The practicality of the approach allows for economical implementation of a large array of sources and detectors, which is necessary in order to increase resolution in Optical Tomography.
