Abstract

Public Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) aim at enhancing daily travelling experience by providing safety, traffic efficiency and infotainment services. These services demand connection to a core network with content storage, centralized processing and decision capabilities. The proposed study focuses on the optical backhaul network planning for Dedicated Short Range Communications (DSRC)-based public ITS. Based on a simplified DSRC Radio Access Network planning, an optical access network is designed including Power Splitters placement and fiber routing. The contribution of this paper is a comparative analysis of different approaches for dedicated backhaul network planning.
