Abstract

The present chapter deals with the vehicle's traction electric drives, consisting of several electric power sources. One of the main requirements for such systems is the sustainable operations, achieved largely by the implementation of an uninterrupted supply of the vehicle's propulsion system with an electric power. One way of realization of the required level of operational sustainability is usage of multipower source traction drive. This type of vehicle's propulsion systems is widely applied on the ships, trains, planes, and heavy trucks. This chapter deals with the LZ-transform method evaluation of two important parameters of the vehicle's operational sustainability-availability and performance of the multistate (MS) multipower source traction drive. LZ-transform approach drastically simplified the solution in comparison with the straightforward Markov method.
