Abstract

The concept of cyclic periodical admixing of local combustion products to perfectly premixed fresh gas streams has been implemented in an approximately adiabatic experimental combustion chamber at atmospheric conditions. Stable combustion with adiabatic flame temperatures clearly below 1600 K has been achieved. At these temperatures NO x emissions of considerably less than 1 ppm(v) (15% O 2) were measured, whereas CO emissions below 8 ppm(v) (15% O 2) are observed.
