Opening the gates, closing the doors: Deciding for which animals we design wildlife-inclusive cities

Research output: Types of ThesisDoctoral Thesis

Abstract

This thesis aims to assess and add to the basic ecological and social-ecological knowledge within urban ecosystems. Human attitudes strongly influence the ecology of cities, and this in turn influences how people that live in cities perceive nature in cities. I addressed basic questions relating to animal biodiversity in German cities and attitudes towards the animals that are present in them. These questions relate to the apparent paucity of information on these topics in Germany, and research towards urban nature as a whole.
