Abstract

Starting from a model Hamiltonian for molecular aggregates which includes excitonic transfer, interaction with dispersionless optical phonons and a local discorder, a theory for the lineshapes of the individual vibronic transitions is developed. It is based on an effective transfer related to the vibronic bands and corresponding spectral transforms to provide the profiles. Application to pseudoisocyanin shows that such an analysis gives information on the helical structure of the aggregate.
