title = "On the axial charge and other static properties of the quark core in nucleons",
abstract = "We present calculations of the axial vector constant gA in models where relativistic quarks are confined by scalar potentials, with special emphasis on center-of-mass corrections and pion cloud effects. It is demonstrated that pionic contributions to gA from a fπθ\{symbol\}μφ term in the axial current vanish for finite pion mass. Confining potentials of the form crn with n = 2, 3 give acceptable values for gA together with quark core radii between 0.5 and 0.6 fm. We also calculate the pion-nucleon coupling constant and establish a connection between gA and the quark core part of the magnetic moment, including center-of-mass corrections. About half of the proton magnetic moment is shown to come from the quark core.",

note = "Funding Information: It cannot be excluded that part of the difficulties to explain gA within bag models is due to the sharp boundary. As an alternative, we consider massless quarks confined in a scalar potential M(r). An ansatz of the form M(r) = cr n with n = 2 or 3 has been used previously to obtain a successful description of the quark core contribution to the proton electric form factor \textbackslash{}[1 1\textbackslash{}]. This ansatz combines the asymptotic freedom properties in the hadron center with confine- Work supported in part by Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (grant no.
