Abstract

The paper deals with transfer functions for vibrations at the surface of the halfspace due to a moving harmonic load acting on a plate elastically mounted on a tunnel. The investigation is based on the coupling of the FEM with the Integral Transform Method (ITM) with FEM to take into account the finite cross-section of the tunnel structure and with ITM to consider the infinite extensions of the soil. Due to the infinte extension in longitudinal direction a Fourier Transform (FT) is applied not only from time to frequency domain (t ↔ ω), but also from original to wavenumber domain (x ↔ k x). This allows the application of the FEM in transformed (k x, ω) domain which keeps the computational effort low. Numerical results are shown for the case of cylindrical tunnel shells of varying thicknesses, for different soils and for several vertical covers.
