Numerical simulation in the deployment of space structures

Abstract

A finite element methodology developed to model the dynamic behavior of flexible articulated structures is briefly presented. It is then used to simulate the deployment of large space structures. Its efficiency is demonstrated on three application cases representative of space engineering.
