Abstract

The paper presents numerical and experimental results for a low speed cascade with a partclearance at one endwall. The aerofoil design is representative for a variable stator vane in a modern high pressure compressor. A configuration with a gap at the rear 30% of chord and a reference cascade without endwall clearance are compared. The simulations and measurements are carried out at an inlet Mach number of Ma=0.12 and a Reynolds number of 6.6 · 105. 3D RANS simulations were performed using the Spalart Allmaras and a κ-ε turbulence model. In the experiment five-hole probe measurements were accomplished in the low speed cascade-wind tunnel at the Technische Universität Braunschweig to obtain the flow field data.
