Abstract

A new λ = 1.55 μm distributed feedback laser which provides optical feedback by a combination of a contacted surface grating with an integrated twin guide is described. The device is made by single-step liquid-phase epitaxy. Room-temperature distributed feedback laser operation is demonstrated for the first time with this structure.
