Non-exponential vibrational dephasing of liquids in the subpicosecond time domain

Abstract

Using a novel version of the Raman probing technique the short-time behaviour of coherently excited vibrational modes is investigated. Subpicosecond values of the time scale √c of the dephasing interaction are reported which characterize the translational motion in several liquids.
