Abstract

The reduction of noise and vibration in the vicinity of tunnel buildings has become more and more important during the last few years. This was on one hand caused by the rapidly growing number of subway lines in built up areas. On the other hand people are now realizing much more the whole problem of emission and pollution. In the following we will try - without going too much into physical details - to survey the present state of research on noise and vibration and the development of means in order to reduce them.
