Abstract

Recent developments in sensor technology have increased the amount of high quality satellite imagery. Conventional pixed-based classification techniques show several important shortcomings when applied to the new generation high-resolution imagery. Consequently, information extraction from this new type of imagery requires new tools and methods. The authors present their recently developed classification system. This tool is based on classifying image patches rather than individual pixels and is able properly to classify high-resolution imagery.
