Abstract

In this paper 2D PIV and 1D LDA data of the flow in a channel with periodic constrictions are presented. This flow has been used for various benchmark studies for RANS and LES. The goal of this work is to provide experimental reference data for this case at high Reynolds numbers. Special emphasis has been placed on controlling the prerequisites of this case, namely the periodicity in the streamwise and the homogeneity in the spanwise direction and the validation of the 2D PIV field measurements through pointwise 1D LDA measurements at certain positions in the flow. New results for Re = 19,000 and Re = 37,000 are presented and discussed.
