Abstract

Atopic eczema (AE) is a chronic inflammatory pruritic skin disease characterized by typical age-related distribution and morphology of skin lesions. Increasing knowledge on the pathogenetic background, identification of additional genetic and environmental factors, and new anti-inflammatory agents have broadened the diagnostic and therapeutic spectrum. Primary prevention strategies and better patient management have been included in recent disease management recommendations.
