Abstract
Traumatic ruptures of the patella tendon can be observed in sportsmen particullarly after local steroid applications due to jumper's knee syndrom. The therapy consists of a primary repair and reinforcement with resorbable or non-resorbable material. We report about a new technique for autogenous semitendinosus tendon augmentation of patella tendon ruptures. Using this operative method, an intensive early-mobilising rehabilitation and a fast return to sport are possible even in complete tears of the distal anterior extensor apparatus.
