Abstract

This book chapter focuses on the development of metal–organic framework (MOF) nanoparticles. We will give the reader a short introduction to the field of nanoscience and the special properties of nanoparticles in general. We provide an overview of MOF nanoparticle synthesis, functionalization, and application. In this way the reader will gain deeper insight into the powerful possibilities that MOF nanoscience holds and at the same time will understand the challenges that must be overcome.
