Abstract

Predictable and non predictable damage is distinguished in the classification of drug reactions of the liver, with more regard to the morphological changes than to the pharmacological action. This classification is particularly useful for the assessment of non predictable reactions, until more is known of the drug metabolism, the genetic factors, the immunological processes as well as of the induction and reciprocal influences of drugs. This information should help to identify persons at risk in whom non predictable reactions may develop. Forty nine references are cited.
