Abstract

This article describes the results of a cooperational project aimed at reworking a low stroke safety valve in terms of its structural design make-up. Besides a significant reduction of the number of components, a fully automatic assembly line and various robot tools were conceptualized, built and put into operation. In addition, the assembly process was optimized. This was above all achieved via an integrated procedure with clearly outlined task assignment and the consistent use of various methods towards the early recognition of characteristics and the assessment of assembly-related qualities.
