Abstract

An analysis of momentum-resolved lifetimes of image-potential states on Cu(100) was performed. The analysis was performed using time- and angle-resolved two-photon photoemission (2PPE) within the GW approximation. The 60-fs pulses of third harmonic of Ti:sapphire oscillator were used to populate the image-potential states from metal states. It was shown that intraband transitions within the image-state band give contribution to the decrease of lifetime comparable in magnitude with the interband channel.
