Abstract

Modulated wideband converters are now a well established sampling schemes to acquire samples of sparse multiband signals with a sub-Nyquist sampling rate such that the signal can be recovered from these samples. However, there are many applications where it is not possible to measure reliable the phase of the samples, but only their amplitudes. This paper shows how the modulated wideband converter has to be modified such that signal recovery from sub-Nyquist amplitude samples becomes possible. Moreover a corresponding recovery algorithm is described. The proposed strategy is fairly general. It allows for several sampling schemes and recovery algorithms. The paper describes one fairly simple and computational efficient realization.
