Abstract

Modular and Multidisciplinary Manufacturing 2030. Within the fourth industrial revolution, production is changing. This article describes the vision of a modular and multidisciplinary manufacturing system. Therefore, the prevailing challenges and the necessary requirements for this future system are listed. The focus is set on machine tools. It is analyzed what kind of adaption is needed by current machines. A comparison between the vision and the current state of the art shows the research areas, which are already intensively considered.
