Abstract
The roughness of corn fields passed by a flow was identified as Strickler-values in model tests. One result was a distinct dependence of the Strickler-value on the flow depth. The minimum Strickler-value of kSt ≈ 1 m1/3/s (value in nature) was determined for a flow depth with the same height as the corn plants. For higher or lower flow depths the Strickler-value is increasing. The orientation of the plant rows in relation to the flow direction has no influence on the roughness.
