Abstract
In the context of increasing automation and digitization of production processes, efficient communication and coordination among agents in multi-agent-systems is very important. This study analyzes multi-agent-systems communication and coordination processes in two industrial use cases. By categorizing messages, local and network delays of each communication message are modeled, measured and compared. The results indicate that modeling delay times prior to implementation can lead to a more efficient approach to elaborate on the hard and soft real-time capabilities of a complex system. The generalization of the findings allows for their application to recurring modules within production systems.
