Abstract
An outline of a performance time index for different radiological activities is presented. The points index assumes that 1 point equals 5 minutes of work. Approximately 20% to 25% of the radiologist's or medical technical assistant's time is not directly with the patient. The calculation of this figure, i.e. the relative time spent on non patient related activities, is problematical. Nevertheless, in this way standard performance times can be calculated and used for various statistical and managerial purposes. Some examples of how various activities in nuclear medicine, radiotherapy and radiodiagnostics can be expressed in points are given.
