Abstract

The complete Navier-Stokes' equations of motion as well as the energy equation are solved numerically for the calculation of the laminar flow field in a radial cascade. This calculation is performed in the relative system for the channel flow in the cascade as well as for the flow field behind cascade. By this mathematical model it is possible to predict the loss and the stalling of the cascade flow. They depend on the major cascade parameters and on the relevant dimensionless numbers: Reynolds number, Rotation number, Prandtl number, KO number. The first numerical results for the case of constant viscosity of the fluid show that the influence of the temperature dependent viscosity has to be taken into account for Ko greater than equivalent to 100.
