Abstract

In this paper a method to determine mmWave road scattering in the automotive 77GHz band using a synthetic aperture radar setup is presented. Therefore, the covering layers of the main asphalt types commonly used on German highways are analyzed. Furthermore, the reflectivity values' distribution, determined with this setup, are presented. Plotting them in histograms, appropriate probability density functions are fitted, returning the parameters necessary to describe the distribution. These functions can be used as a description valid for diffuse scattering applications.
