Highlights Analysis method to quantify the gas evolution in LiBs with commercial electrolytes. Leak-tight laboratory cell design for mass spectrometry applications. Temperature-dependent gas evolution related to SEI formation. Electrolyte degradation with Ni-rich cathode active materials.
