Metamagnetism and critical fluctuations in high quality single crystals of the bilayer ruthenate Sr3Ru2O7

Abstract

The effect of critical fluctuations associated with the presence of metamagnetism on the low temperature properties of Sr3Ru2O7 was examined. It was found that these fluctuations have an interesting interpretation as changes in the Fermi surface topography. The results also highlight important and somewhat unexpected differences with the metallic state that exists in its well-studied structural relative, the unconventional superconductor Sr2RuO4.
