Abstract
The metabolism of 4-nitrophenol was studied in suspension cultures of tomatoes. Most of the radioactivity could be extracted from the cells. Two metabolites were isolated, one was identified as the 4-nitrophenyl-β-D-glucopyranoside, and the second is probably a di- or -polysaccharide conjugate of 4-nitrophenol.
