Abstract
Pollen data reported from the 2 measuring stations of Davos-Dorf and Davos-Wolfgang have been compared. Thereby, it was stated that the registered quantity of birch pollen in Davos was generally small, but in Davos-Dorf regularly a little higher than in Davos Wolfgang. Concerning hazel and grass pollen, the situation was different in terms of that the observed pollen counts were nearly the same. Generally, the vegetation in the mountains are strictly limited since the climate is very inclement. Therefore, at both measuring stations in the mountain valley of Davos the birch pollen counts reach only about 5% compared to the Swiss plateau, and the grass pollen counts reach only about 30%. The observation of smaller pollen counts in Davos and the fact that the flowers start later to emit pollen is used by a lot of patients in order to prevent or at least reduce pollinosis. This study additionally shows that pollen counts from 2 neighboring stations can vary significantly due to local influences.
