Abstract

Before the installation of submarine hyperfiltration plants can be undertaken the performance of membranes under deep-sea conditions must be investigated. Of special interest are, on the one hand, the influence of low temperatures upon flux and salt rejection of membranes and, on the other hand, the membrane permeability to the gases dissolved in the sea-water. Design of the hyperfiltration test plan is given and test results are detailed and discussed in terms of practical recommendations.
